Meaningful and ridiculous, 2017 introduced music of all sorts. Love, loss, and personal histories were in abundance. Albums seemed to matter less. The year produced some truly joyful songs.
Aaron’s Favorite Music: 2016
Big names and new names generated great music. Several rules were re-written. We enjoyed surprise album releases and even surprise album formats. Genre lines were crossed. Here are some of my favorites from 2016.
What We Like
BRIDGET:
Never one to shy away from a good tune to sing along or dance to, pop music reigns supreme in my musical repertoire. So if it’s on Top 40, it’s likely on my current iTunes Radio/Songza/Spotify/Rdio rotation. I also quite enjoy Songs from Apple Commercials, Sunshine Indie Pop, Handclapping and Footstomping and of course Motown. (More from Bridget)

I’ll listen to anything. But I love music with organs, handclaps, and horns. Great writing. A pounding bass line. Fuzzed out guitars. Performances with real joy and energy. That’s the stuff I’ll listen to repeatedly. New or old. Whatever. (More from Aaron)
